Hand painted, late 1800's Haviland & Co. Limoges China Chocolate Pot. This piece has an unusual cream color matte finish hand painted in gold, burgandy, blue, pink and a rich chocolate brown. This is definitely a one of a kind piece that was finished by one of many contractual artists that would hand paint each piece prior to the pieces being decorated with transfers. Haviland began marking all of the china "France" starting in 1888. With the green mark on the bottom this piece dates back to the 1880's and is in excellent condition for its age. True Haviland at this time was known for its brilliant colors and gold embellishment. Dimensions 9.25" tall and 5" at the handle. Excellent antique condition. There are no chips or cracks noted. There is a repair noted to the corner of the lid that is difficult to see. The paint and gold are in near perfect condition.
