Antique Red Satin Glass Silverplate Pickle Castor

Rare, Antique Victorian Coreopsis "Pigeon Blood" Red Satin Pickle Castor with lid and fork circa 1902. Made by Kopp while he was with the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Co. in Coraoplis, Pennsylvania. Colors made in this pattern were glossy, satin finishes, and decorated milk glass (very similar to Cosmos decoration). This piece was rare in red satin "pigeon blood" with white decoration. (Encyclopedia of Victorian Colored Pattern Glass Book III - page 21) This piece has a silverplate rim, handle, and lid in very good condition with limited silverplate wear and absolutely no dents or damage noted. Dimensions: 7.5" tall x 5.5" wide Condition: Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or repairs noted. There is a two pronged pickle fork stamped Sterling. This piece is very old and there is some loss of the white paint and some marks as can be seen from the photos. The red satin glass shades to dark orange at the base and in the light is a brilliant, deep blood orange. Truly a one of a kind, and rare piece of history.
