Antique Firefighter Memorabilia

Find all of our antique and vintage items. Video Translation: Hey, this is Jennifer here with City Farmhouse Antiques and I have a rare find of the week to share with you today. This is actually a piece of history of firefighter memorabilia. What makes it really cool and really timely is it says Christmas Greetings on the bottom which also makes it a piece of advertising memorabilia which is always really sought after and collectible. This piece, in addition to being a firefighter collectible, is also a Christmas collectible. This is actually an antique match safe. You can see the date is marked 1915 and it is sterling silver. I have left it in its natural form and not polished it. I like to do that because sometimes people like them like that and then I leave it up to the buyer if they want to polish it or not. This is actually a very rare piece. You can see this firefighter is carrying a child out of a burning building. This would be an awesome gift for a firefighter in your family and this is a neat piece of American history. This piece opens. The hinge is very tight. Let's see if I can do this one handed. You can see that your matches would have gone in here. Here is the back. It is like a hammered silver texture. This piece is in very good condition considering it was produced in 1915. When you think about it, I am actually holding something that is over a 100 years old in my hand. A great piece of advertising memorabilia which is awesome. I just love this little find.
